Opening Weekend for the Farm is March 22-23 to coincide with Reenactor Appreciation Weekend!
Join us for opening weekend to celebrate with demonstrations, onsite reenactors hard at work and hanging out, and of course, Farmhouse Museum and Barn Tours!
The 1st WV Light Artillery will be doing drill and demonstrations for any interested spectators and The Detachment, U.S. Engineers and Historical Impressions of America, Inc. will be hosting a School of the Engineer/Pioneer cooperative endeavor open to reenactors who wish to participate.
Camping for Reenactors will be free with wood, water and waste services provided.
The School of the Engineer/Pioneer program will be teaching attendees on how to construct breast works, simple obstacles, simple fortifications, clearing roads, understanding/reading maps, and the use of terrain as an advantage. The primary objective is to offer units something different than the usual drill weekends. Their work will be used by the Daniel Lady Farm, US and CS commands for skirmish weekends, Union or Confederate reenactment weekends, as well an interpretive display for visitors.
Dress for the weekend is uniform or period attire. For planning purposes, a complete headcount is needed by Saturday, March 8th. Interested reenactors should contact the farm directly so the Engineers can be made aware!
